Starts today, May 2.
Bring sneakers and water bottles and comfortable clothes for running. We will be learning about running, long distance, short distance, running on trails as well as playing a lot of fun tag games. Parent participation is encouraged, and help will be needed with the weekly fun runs.

Our 8th grade students challenged the Whitefield teachers to a volleyball match this afternoon. The teachers were victorious again, out scoring their students 21-6!

The bulletin board in the lobby is all decked out in honor of our pets. Can you guess which pets belong to which staff member??
This is a reminder that there is no school on Friday April 15th. This is a teacher comp day. Spring break is April 18th- 22nd.

Don't forget that yearbook orders are due by April 11th. We have extra order forms in the school office or they can be ordered online.

Prek applications and kindergarten registrations are being accepted starting on March 21st. Applications/ registrations can be picked up at the school starting on the 21st of March or you can call the school to be put on a mailing list.

Spring Pictures will be on Wednesday, April 6th. Order forms will go home as soon as we get them. You can also order ahead of time online.
All RSU 12 schools will have a two hour delay this morning, March 3rd.
Don't forget tomorrow is Dr. Seuss' birthday ( Wednesday the 2nd). If anyone wants to participate you can dress like your favorite character from one of his books or wear anything silly and mismatched in true Dr. Seuss fashion.
Please be aware that there are some minor phone issues happening at Whitefield School. If you are unable to get through during business hours, most likely the office is on the other line. Keep trying or leave a message and we will call you back. We lost our answering machine greeting and have not been able to record a new one yet. The 6100 extension message you get is for the main office, so please leave your messages there. Thank you for your patience while we work on getting the phones back to normal working order.
Whitefield School loves to read! Our readers have read an amazing 27,833 minutes as of this Monday morning. There are 3 more days of reading! They have until midnight on Wednesday, March 2nd to enter minutes. Don’t forget to enter those minutes!
Donations can still be accepted AFTER Wednesday, for up to 1 week. You are encouraged to share on Facebook (again!), email grandparents, family members, and friends, and send text messages to ask for donations. This can all be done easily from your readers home page. We have raised an AMAZING $5780.00 dollars so far! Let’s get to $6000 at least in the next week!
Prizes will be distributed next week and remind your readers that everyone who gets to 500 minutes wins a prize bag!

This is a reminder. Face coverings will be optional for all staff, students, and visitors to RSU 12 schools starting Monday, February 28, 2022.
Also, please note that the Federal CDC issued new guidance for school buses last Friday stating that face coverings are now optional. So, face coverings are now optional for all staff and students riding RSU 12 school buses starting tomorrow, February 28, 2022. In honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday on March 2nd, we will be having another dress up day. Dress Like Dr. Seuss!
Some ideas are:
Wear green in honor of Green Eggs and Ham. Wear pajamas in honor of I'm Not Going To Get Up Today. Dress “wacky” in honor of “Wacky Wednesday” (wear clothes that do not match, are backwards, look crazy, etc.)
Participation is voluntary. No prizes will be given out. This all just for fun and to honor a beloved children's author on his birthday.
Gifted and Talented Notice
Spring referrals for the Gifted and Talented Program are being accepted from March 1st to March 22nd. Please note that the window closes on March 22nd. If you feel your child excels or has the potential to excel beyond his/her age level peers in academics or art/music (VPA) you can make a referral for the Gifted and Talented Program. A referral can be made by a teacher, staff member, or parent. We do recommend, however, you consult with your child's teacher before making a referral. Please contact Hollie Hilton, the GT Coordinator, at hhilton@svrsu.og for a referral form for either academics or visual art/music (VPA).
