Please see the following message!
Good Morning,
Since we closed schools on March 13th we have been able to provide breakfasts and lunches to any child, age birth to 18, who wished to receive these deliveries. We have delivered meals on Tuesday and Friday but covered a full week. The response from WHES families was outstanding and the tremendous work done by our school nutrition staff, our bus drivers and many support staff members allowed us to provide over 20,000 meals to families during this challenging time. During this dark period the provision of meals to kids has been a true beacon of goodness and I want to send out my heartfelt thanks and congratulations to all those individuals who worked so hard to make our food delivery program such a massive success.
We have now entered summer vacation and our state and nation's challenges still exist. Fortunately, we have received permission to extend our food deliveries to interested families throughout the summer! Our final school-year deliveries were made today (June 26th) and our summer meal program will begin deliveries on Tuesday, July 7th and will continue on each Tuesday and Thursday until Friday, August 21st. If you are already on our list, great! If not, please contact either Vicki Dill (vdill@svrus.org) or Meagan Soule (msoule@svrsu.org) and they'll add your children onto the delivery list. During the summer we will only be using two buses. If your meals have been being delivered by either Mr. Bronn or Mr. Cote's bus, your meals will arrive at the usual time you've been receiving them. If you have been receiving deliveries from either Mr.Brann or Mr. Webb's bus, the meals will be arriving at your door approximately one (1) hour later than usual. If you have any questions, please reach out to Vicki or Meagan or feel free to contact me here at the school.
Here's to a great summer!

"At Whitefield Elementary School We Have PRIDE INSIDE"
Just a reminder that Whitefield School office is closed this week. It will be open again on Monday, June 29th. If you call, please leave a message and someone will get back to you or you may email aperkins@svrsu.org.
Thank you to everyone who came out to say goodbye to Mrs. Beck. She enjoyed seeing everyone. She even got to see a student who was in her first class at Whitefield 38 years ago. He drove all the way from Portland to wish her a happy retirement.

Whitefield School front office will be closed 6/22-6/26.
It will be back open on 6/29.
Reminder:
If any one is interested in wishing Gail Beck a happy retirement, she will be at the school tonight from 5pm to 6pm. She will be sitting outside the school and you can drive through the parking lot honking, waving and shouting out your well wishes. If you come on by, we ask that you practice safe social distancing and remain in your car. Please pull in the driveway by the gym entrance and exit by the playground. Gail has been a teacher for 39 years with 38 of those working at Whitefield Elementary school! Mrs. Beck will be greatly missed, but we wish her nothing but the best during her retirement. Let's give this amazing teacher a send off that she will never forget!
We want to thank all the parents and guardians of our students for helping out and doing the best you could with remote learning. The last few months have been a challenge for students, parents/ guardians and teachers...but we made it work! So here is to you, parents and guardians! You deserve a pat on the back!

It is with great sadness that we make this announcement:
After 39 years of teaching ( 38 of them being at Whitefield Elementary School) Mrs. Gail Beck has retired. Mrs. Beck has been a part of our school for a long time and has been a teacher to so many in our community. In here career at Whitefield she has taught kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade. Her presence will greatly missed. We wish Mrs. Beck nothing but a happy and exciting retirement.
Mrs. Beck enjoys geocaching on her time off, so for a retirement present the staff presented her with a geocache in her honor. It's name is "Caching in My Retirement Pension" and is located on the Happy Farm trail here in Whitefield.
If any past student would like to say goodbye to Mrs Beck, she will be in the school parking lot on Friday, June 19th from 5pm- 6pm. We ask that you practice safe social distancing and remain in your car. You may drive through the parking lot ( entering by the gym and exiting by the playground) and honk, wave and tell Mrs. Beck goodbye. Lets give her the best send off ever!

RSU 12 would like to remind our families that your children may be eligible for free and reduced meals in the fall. If your financial circumstances have changed recently, please consider completing the application at http://svrsu.schoollunchapp.com. This will allow us to determine whether we can provide your child meals for free or at a reduced rate in the first month of school next year.
For those who purchased a Whitefield Yearbook - I received the following message from LifeTouch in regards to a delivery date - when I receive more information I will pass it on:
"Unfortunately as a result of COVID-19 each day we are facing new challenges that impede our ability to move yearbooks forward in the production process. Just as an example, in the last few weeks 3 of our plants had employees test positive for COVID-19 which put a halt to production and drastically reduces our workforce - both for social distancing reasons and due to people not wanting to return to work for fear of exposure. Then most recently we faced city curfews due to protesting and riots which limited our 2nd and 3rd shift workforce. -
I apologize that I'm not able to give you a more definitive date but all of this is out of Lifetouch's control. In most cases, I'm expecting the worst and hoping for the best.
We have delivered over 19,180 meals to the children of Whitefield. Pretty impressive! Keep up the good work kitchen crew, bus drivers and delivery people!
RSU 12 is considering continuing to provide meals through the months of July and August to children living in the district. Please take a moment before the end of the day Wednesday, June 10, to complete this survey to let us know if you would like meals for your children. This will help us make the decision. Thank you! https://forms.gle/ta5hRGcnVajj6obU8
Just a reminder that this is the last week to stop by the school and go through the lost and found. It is located outside the school between the hours of 8am and 11am Monday- Friday. All items remaining here on Friday June 12th will be donated to Goodwill.
Device Collection times have changed a little so please mark your calendars. On Wednesday and Thursday (June 10 & 11), I will be here from 7-10 am (that is the change) and 4:30-6:00 pm at night. I will be at the Lobby Entrance. You need only drive up and I will collect the device - I will check that the charger is the same one you were assigned and ask about any issues with the laptop. Students please reset the password to the original - mlti. If students have any other school materials that need to be returned they can do so at this time as well. Looking forward to seeing you all. Any questions, please contact me at choward@svrsu.org.
