This week is National School Bus Safety Week. Don't forget to thank your bus drivers for getting you to and from school safely everyday.
Congratulations to Donovan Thompson for winning first place in the Peace Poster Contest for Whitefield School. Donovan's poster will now go on to compete in a district level.
Oryanna Winchenbach got second place.
Kathryn Shaw got third place.
All three students will have a spaghetti dinner and recognition night at the Lion's Club.

RSU 12 staff spent the day Friday learning together. There were opportunities to learn about complex reasoning skills and how to teach these to students. There were also opportunities to practice strategies to address challenging student behavior and to build a sense of community in the classroom. We look forward to applying our new learning in the classroom!

Just a reminder that there is no school on Friday, October 11th and Monday, October 14th.
We are going to celebrate Bullying Prevention Day on Monday October 7th by wearing BLUE. We hope to see our whole school, both students and staff wearing blue on Monday.
Mrs. Richards literacy block kids used the maker space room to create a Coelophysis (ask your child to pronounce it) to go along with our book Cam Jansen and the Mystery of the Dinosaur Bones.
Whitefield PTA will be holding their annual pumpkin sale today and tomorrow, Friday, October 4th from 2:30pm- 4:30pm. They will also be on sale next week. Dates and times to be determined. These pumpkins were planted by our students at the Marple Farm during Day of Caring last spring.
School picture retake day will be on Wednesday, November 6th.

Whitefield Cares Community Meeting will be held in the school library on 9/26/19 at 6pm.
MakerSpace Marshmellow Challenge with 5th grade students. They had to collaborate ideas to formulate a plan and then build - adjusting as they created. They had to be able to lift their structure and share what was difficult and how they solved it. Great Job Students!

School picture order forms will be going home with students early next week.
Students in grades 1-8 will be bringing home a letter instructing parent/guardians on how to access their students grades on Jumprope. If your student did not bring home a letter tonight, they should have it by Friday.
Pre-K and Kindergarten do not use Jumprope. If you have a student in those grades and have questions or concerns about how they are doing, you may email their teacher.
