Good Afternoon:
On Thursday, October 7th, the school will be conducting a Grounds Evacuation at 10:00 a.m. During the drill the school holds a standard fire drill followed by a command to exit the school campus. As a school, we walk down Rt.126 to the neighboring Baptist Church next door. Once inside, we take attendance again and then provide instructions for the staff and students. We are there for a very short period of time and then, again as a group, walk back up 126 to the school. This specific drill is practiced once or twice a school year in case of an emergency that requires us to leave the campus. The Baptist Church has always been very gracious in offering their facility should such an emergency ever present a need to get everyone off the school grounds. We utilize the road, rather than crossing the school playground onto the church property, because we must practice a pathway to the church that would be available to us year round.
Generally, our emergency drills are conducted without warning to better replicate a real emergency scenario. However, in the case of the Grounds Evacuation, I wouldn't want to create undue alarm for anyone passing by who might see the entire school population walking down the road and wonder what in the world was going on. I also wouldn't want to create a Facebook furor! Please feel free to alert your student(s) of this upcoming drill and talk about its need.
Thanks!

What better way to kick off October then with Whitefield Schools 1st annual Sunshine Club Staff Fall Bake-Off! 11 staff competed to see who makes the best apple or pumpkin treat. One student from each class came and taste tested and placed their vote. It was a stiff competition right to the end. Mr. Davis had to come in and place a deciding vote. The winner is Miss Andrea our social worker with her now Famous Apple Addiction Dip!
Apple Addiction Dip
1 (8oz) pkg cream cheese
2T vanilla
1/4 c sugar
1/2 c brown sugar
1 pkg toffee bits ( Skor or Heath brands)
3-4 apples ( any variety)
Whip cream cheese and vanilla together and blend in the sugars.
Add toffee bits and mix together well. Let the dip sit overnight in the fridge. Cut the apples into wedges just before serving. Best served with local apples !
And congratulations to Miss Kendra, our school nurse, for taking second place with her equally famous Pumpkin Chip Cookies!
