In RSU 12, we track certain data in order to monitor our improvement efforts aligned to our strategic planning . Currently, the goals of our strategic planning are:
- Improve our chronic absenteeism rates to below 5% students chronically absent by 2020
- Improve our MEA scores in math and reading. We are very focused on raising our math scores on the new state test to the state average by 2020.
- Improve our proficiency and growth rates on the NWEA so that our average national percentile rank is 75% in both Math and Reading by 2020.
As part of our local assessment program, students in grades 1-8 take the NWEA MAP (Measures of Academic Progress®) assessment each fall and spring. The NWEA-MAP assessment creates a personalized experience by adapting to each student’s learning level as they progress through the test. These assessments are particularly valuable for the school district, as we are able to measure each student's growth and identify areas of focus for the student as well as areas in need of attention in our instruction and curriculum. See links to the results below
Maine Education Assessment
As part of the Maine assessment program, students are required to take the Maine Education Assessment in grades 3-8. This assessment has taken various forms over the years and RSU 12 works hard to adjust to each new format.
As part of the RSU 12 Strategic Plan, attendance data is monitored. We are currently focused on improving our chronic absentee rates. We are monitoring the data at the link below.
